After a decade of slow interest in the Green Cleaning Movement, RFK Jr, who is secretary of HHS is now putting a renewed interest on health focusing on food and various influences that are harming the health of Americans. As seen in the image, one of the major focuses in diet, food additives, and adverse ingredients.
Next are environmental influences. While it is very apparent that the food companies have been worse than negligent by adding sugar, food dyes, and strange ingredients to the food items they produce … the tide is turning.
But, what is the next area that has been roundly neglected, what area is grossly in need of government attention? The answer is visibly shown in this image. Many homes, and most commercial buildings, are literally “Toxic.”!
The “Open Secret” that has been most building managers and cleaning services have been offering only “Token Green Cleaning” that does not faithfully reduce the constant problem of cleaning for appearance and not for health.
Half measures do not solve problems. They prolong problems. And, cleaning services are to blame. Cleaning services have adjusted (marginally) to accommodate the Green agenda. They now use HEPA vacuums, microfiber cleaning cloths, and some supposed “Green cleaning products,” but even those products are still half-measures.
Green cleaning is an internal issue. The workers should be trained and certified, the purchasing agent needs to be educated, and the company needs to step up to the core issues that impact the Indoor Air Quality. The choice of the cleaning service needs to be based on more than website Greenwashing hype!
A truly Green cleaning service should start with educating and certifying the staff and workers. How else can the public know or trust that the website promises are actually more than flimsy advertising?
Green Clean Institute offers online training for all workers (existing and new) that allows cleaning services to promote Green cleaning practices by the very people in charge of the cleaning process. Green cleaning does not get more organic than that. When hiring a cleaning service, make it a requirement that the service is Green Clean Institute firm certified.
