Janitorial Edge

Certified Mold SpecialistBeat Out the Competition with Credentials

The truth is that most janitorial firms are "Faking Green."  Claiming that your company is Green because you have some Green products is like claiming to be a great golfer simply because you own some golf clubs.  The public is finally wising up and questioning whether these phony Green claims by janitorial firms are for real.  We all know that there is only one way to keep everyone honest, and that is by Green Certification through an independent program like the Green Clean Institute.

First of all, the Green Clean Institute Certified™ seal is a federal trademark, so you cannot cheat the system by designing a fake logo of your own.  This is one that you must earn.

"I am always proud to tell my customers that my service is not just Green because I say so.  I include a copy of my Green Clean Institute certificate in every bid package.  This one items alone has allowed my company to stand up and walk away with the contract while the others scratch their head."

LEED buildings and government accounts no longer accept loose claims for their contracts.  Many GCI certified firms report successful LEED contracts because of their Green Clean Institute certification.  More and more corporations are including the Green Clause in their RFPs, mandating that all bids must come from Green certified firms.  Frankly, why wait until you lose one job after another until you decide to make your company an authentically Green service?

Are you still wondering if this "Green Thing" is for real?  Well, take a look at Executive Order #13514, signed in late 2009.  President Obama has required all government agencies to apply Green standards, which includes Green Purchasing for all vendors.  How long until these regulations expand out to corporate America?

Or take a look at the EPA's "Environmentally Preferred Purchasing" efforts.  The EPA is telling businesses to buy from Green companies.  By the way, the EPA is not talking about the pale Green businesses that claim to be Green but haven't proven that they are doing more than heavy-duty Greenwashing.  Have you heard the term "Green Chain Supply?"  Well, part of that program is encouraging companies who claim to be Green to buy from other Green certified vendors.  The day of the Green Pretender is quickly coming to an end, and that is probably a good thing.  Like I said, there are a lot of janitorial firms who are avid Green promoters, but they are actually Green pretenders.
